In 2023, Tennessee Law Review hosted a symposium to honor the life and work of Professor Fran Ansley. The event, titled “Working Toward Justice on Difficult Ground,” was held at the University of Tennessee College of Law.

The symposium spotlighted three pivotal aspects of Professor Ansley’s scholarship: examining the impact of plant closings and the global economy, advocating for migrants in workplaces and communities, and evaluating the future of teaching and learning about America’s past. Panels and presentations facilitated discussions to both honor Professor Ansley’s contributions and advance understanding and discourse on these critical issues.
